My name is Jenedyta Paquita. My family call me Jendy at home and my friends call me Nedy at school. Now, I would like to tell you about my family.
I can say that I have a unique name. It is not really unique but I think it is a cool name. I was born from parents who are from different nations. My mother is Mexican and my father is Indonesian-Germany. My friends say that I am so beautiful. They also think that I should try to join movie casting because I will be a good actress. I laugh whenever they imagine that thing. Well, I do not want to be an actress. I want to be a lecturer like my father.
My father is very genius. He is a professor in Mathematics field. But, I want to be a professor at psychology field. My parents say that it is a great dream. My father and mother are very supportive. My mother is a house wife. However, she is also a business woman. She has a textile company and several boutiques in Jakarta. She runs her business at home because she already has many good managers and directors, and she controls it from home.
She built the company since she was 20 years old. That was her first move to Indonesia after getting married with my father. My mother is a genius one in accounting and business field. She went to college when she was 16 years old. Then, she continued her postgraduate study in England when she was 19 years old. When I was born, she decided to work from home because she wanted to raise her daughter by herself. She wanted to see the growth of her daughter.
I am 15 years old now. I am in the eleventh grade of senior high school. My mother is 38 years old and my father is 43 years old. I haven’t had any brother or sister until now. Maybe, I will not have any brother or sister. Maybe, I will be the only child in the family. It seems that my parents do not want it, too. They focus on raising and nurturing me. Besides, my mother is 38 years old. It is a very high risk pregnancy in the age above 35 years old. But, I do not know if someday they make up their mind and think about having a baby again.
Even though I am the only child in the family now, my parents do not want me to be a childish and spoiled teenager. They educate me to be independent, tough, and disciplined person. When I was 13 years old, they teach me how to go to school by bus or taxi by myself. Until now, I go to school by myself. In case, I am not feeling well or I have many things to bring, they take me to school. One more fact, unlike other mixed-nationalities children in general, I do not go to International School.
I go to state school. At first, I found difficulty in the language. But, I can speak Indonesian well now. My friends helped me so much when I was in the elementary school. My parents want me to love Indonesia. That’s why they send me to the state school to see how the ordinary Indonesian children study, how the culture is, etc.
